   Overview

ToVino specializes in exclusive wine, culinary and cultural holidays in Spain and Portugal. They offer scheduled and customized tours off the beaten trail. Discover with ToVino picturesque landscapes, selected wineries, and the abundance of Spanish and Portuguese Cuisine as well as their rich history and culture. There is no better way to get to know a country or region.

The Concept
All tours have three basic elements: wine, cuisine and culture. Some tours focus more on wine, the vineyards, the wine making process, wine tasting and so on. Others focus more on cuisine and culture. Choose the tour that appeals to you.

Wine
Wine has a long tradition along the Douro Valley for more than 2,000 years. Today there are many well known wine producing areas such as Ribera del Duero, Rueda, Toro in Spain, and Alto Douro and the famous Port wines in Portugal. The wines from the Douro region have conquered markets all over the world. The soil, the climate and the different varieties make the difference. Tour with ToVino to discover this world of wine.

Cuisine
Christians, Arabs and Jews lived together in this area for centuries and contributed to the tradition of regional dishes. Still today there are many dishes made according to old recipes. However, the Spanish cuisine has seen a great revolution and a new generation of chefs combine traditional ingredients with new flavors and techniques. The traditional dishes such as suckling pig, roasted young lamb, “bacalao” cod fish, legume dishes with chickpeas and lentils appeal to every connoisseur.

Culture and History
Castilla y Léon is very rich in history. The Catholic Monarchs, Queen Isabella of Castile and Ferdinand of Aragon, laid the solid basis for the creation of the Spanish state and the Spanish empire. Christopher Columbus took on his voyages the wine of Toro and Amerigo Vespucci, who gave his name to the newly discovered continent, was given Castilian nationality at the King’s Court in Toro. You can still see the importance and richness of that period in world history. Cities like Segovia, Salamanca, Avila, Porto and the Douro Valley are World Heritage Sites with spectacular cathedrals, castles and palaces.

ToVino’s Style and Philosophy
ToVino shares a passion for wine, cuisine and culture with their clients. The routes are designed to be enjoyable touring in small groups, never stressful, and there is always some free time for clients to be on their own and to relax. Accommodations are an important part of the tour. Guests stay in luxurious hotels: converted palaces and castles, distinguished royal guesthouses (Posada Real) or charming country hotels in picturesque settings.

There are a variety of different cuisines: renowned restaurants, tapas style meals, and traditional homemade food at small country restaurants and wineries. The meals are so designed that clients can really enjoy the different flavors, ingredients, and amounts. It is never such a bombardment of food in quantities that the clients get fed up!

ToVino uses comfortable, modern buses and mini-vans. The tours are designed in such a way that the travelers are never too long in the vehicle. Traveling is intended as a time of rest enjoying landscapes.
