Tuscan Gold: Mediterranean and Vegetarian Traditional Family Cooking with Olive Picking and Art Tours

A great opportunity to live for a week in a real Tuscan small organic farmhouse, experiencing the the olive harvest and learning about Extra Virgin Olive Oil, tasting it under the guidance of an expert. Learning how to cook the authentic Italian food, touring to the beautiful art site, taking long walks in the woods, meeting your hosts Pat and Paolo and sharing with them their experience, family and friends.

Maximum eight people per group, to better enjoy each other's company and to get the chance to have all the attention from your hosts. Quality is a world that requires time and attention!

Cooking is based on the traditional recipes Tasty Tuscany got from their families and the fresh made Extra Virgin Olive Oil enriches it with a precious and helthy aroma.

Fall cooking is full of mushrooms, truffles, olives, and Tasty Tuscany knows all the tips to make you feel confident in the kitchen. In cooking weeks, combine the hands-on experience with food together with art excursions, visit to wine and food producers and to the colorful local open markets. The pot is simmering, you need to come and enjoy!

Accommodations Situated high upon a hill and nestled between woods, the ancient Tuscany Farmhouse known as Il Poggione majestically overlooks olive orchards, vineyards, and the rolling Tuscany countryside far below its centuries old stone walls. The Tuscan villa farmhouse has been completely restored in accordance with traditional Tuscan architecture and is ideally situated in central Tuscany near the small medieval walled town of Palaia. The highway that connects Pisa with Florence is a short ten minutes away from the Tuscany farm. Guests enjoy their Tuscany farmhouse accommodations relaxing under the Tuscan sun in the huge flowered garden and upon the green expansive lawn that surrounds the farmhouse villa. The accommodations are complete with a wonderful pool and carefully placed shaded hammocks to provide comfort on warm, sunny Tuscany summer afternoons.
Additional Activities Tuscany Italy is perfect for an Italian vacation. The vacation area surrounding the Tuscan rental villa is ideal for activities as hiking, bike riding, wine tasting, olive tasting, and horseback riding.

Tuscany Italy is renowned the world over for its Tuscan treasures of art. Tasty Tuscany will provide excursions to various art locales or arrange six-hour tours with an art expert.

The Tuscan Path to Wine

Program Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival Day
Arrival in the morning and relaxing day at Podere il Poggione.
Lunch: Spaghetti with tomato sauce; Bresaola with rucola; mixed salad; fruit.
8:00pm: Dinner: Beans soup; Polpette; Mixed salad; Salame di cioccolato.

Day 2: Half-Day Excursion and Cooking Class
8:00-9:00am: Breakfast.
9:30am: Excursion to Certaldo.
1:30pm: Lunch: Mixed local cheeses with honey and fruit; Mixed Salad.
4:30pm: Cooking Class: Antipasti Dinner: Potato pie with parmesan cheese; Stuffed and baked zucchini; Sweet and sour peppers salad; Eggplant rolls; Brutti e buoni with limoncello.

Day 3: Half-Day Excursion and Cooking Class
8:00-8:45am: Breakfast.
9:00am: Visit to Calci.
1:00pm: Lunch: Tomato and Mozzarella; Mixed Salad.
4:30pm: Cooking class: A Piedmont Dinner: Brasato al Chianti; Potato spumini with saffron; Green beans with cinnamon and onions; Bunet (chocolate pudding).

Day 4: Olive Picking, Lunch at the Olive Mill, Olive Pressing and Class on Olive Oil
8:00-9:30am: Breakfast.
9:30am: Olive picking.
1:00am: Lunch: Typical Tuscan lunch at the Olive Mill.
3:00am: Olive pressing and class on Extra Virgin Olive oil making and tasting. 8:00pm: Dinner: Minestrone freddo 'alla genovese'; Zucchini bundles; Mixed salad; Tiramisù.

Day 5: Day Long Art Guided Excursion to Florence. Lunch at the Enoteca. Shopping
8:00-9:00am: Breakfast.
9:30am: Guided Florence Art Excursion.
1:00pm: Lunch in Town.
8:00pm: Dinner: Ziti sul sugo dell'orto; Sauté green peppers with pecorino cheese; mixed salad; fruits and chocolate tasting.

Day 6: Half-Day Excursion and Cooking Class
8:00-9:00am: Breakfast.
9:30am: Visit to San Gimignano (lunch in town).
4:30pm: Cooking Class: A Tuscan Dinner: Chicken with herbs and olives in Vernaccia sauce; Tuscan Salad; Cantuccini and Vin Santo.

Day 7: Breakfast and Departure
